Judging process

An important part of the Global Risk Awards, and one which makes them distinctive, is our international panel of judges.

The judges have been drawn from leading organisations in:

• Australasia and New Zealand
• Mainland Europe
• North America and Canada
• South Africa
• South East Asia
• The Middle East
• United Kingdom

A full list of judges can be viewed here.

Judges will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement so that all information contained in entries remains confidential. JUDGES ARE INDEPENDENT AND WILL PRESIDE IMPARTIALLY.

Each category will be judged by a select group of judges, depending on experience and expertise. Each element of the category criteria is then given a score.

Judges will select a shortlist of five entries from their entire pool of entrants based on the scoring. These will be reviewed by a core panel of judges and a final shortlist of three finalists per category will be chosen. Where judges feel it is appropriate, a highly commended award can also be given for a category.

Where judges believe the standard of entries for any one category is not high enough, an award will not be given.

Where the number of entries for any one category exceeds 30 entrants, a shortlist of up to five finalists will be shortlisted per category.

Core judges will attend a final judging day, chaired by Sophie Williams, Deputy Chief Executive, where the finalists and winners will be ratified. The judges’ decisions are final.

Entrants will then be notified by us if they are a finalist or have been unsuccessful this time.

Awards will be engraved with the winners’ names and presented at the awards dinner on Thursday 28 February 2013.

IRM’s judging process is rigorous, which makes winning an award all that more special.
